THEM
Character Name: William Magnus
Character Age: 16
Canon: Marvel Comics, Earth-15513 Universe ("Battleworld")
Canon Point: House of M (2015), end of issue #4

History/World: William's world is part of the Earth-15513 universe, AKA Dr. Doom's weird Secret Wars AU. Basically a 'verse based on the House of M event where Wanda Maximoff used her nexus/reality-altering powers to place Magneto as the patriarch and ruler of that universe's quasi-Earth, where mutants dominate and humans bend the knee; this version was created due to a war wrecking so much of the universe that a bunch of broken pieces came together to create one world, stuffed-together with all kinds of locations from around the universe. (It's very messy.) In this world, Magneto rules the land of Genosha as king, making William a prince. Doctor Doom is the world ruler and god.

More info on AU-Tommy's journal as well. (The specific character wiki is here but all it's good for is the family list...)

Personality: Unlike his brother, William (AKA Billy to his bro) is quite a bit different from his 616-universe counterpart. He and his twin Tommy are two peas in a pod, having grown up together as equal princes in a very dysfunctional family, and they've developed a mutual love of rebellion by watching the family (and government) abuse, both of one another and of the world around them. Humans are persecuted, and since they weren't around for the mutant persecution of prior generations, they don't share their grandfather's view that they can't live side by side as equals.

They're very much children of privilege, and are kind of well-meaning but inept social justice warriors who are as much using their rebellion to have fun as to actually try and change the world for the better- they free humans from imprisonment or "reeducation", attack organizations and soldiers devoted to arresting or holding them, and battle their grandpa's Sentinels in public. Most of their shenanigans are short-term tussles that get exasperated media attention, until their mother comes to collect and ground them for bringing shame upon the family. And then a week later they repeat the whole thing, never facing any real consequences for their bad behaviour. Any attempts to arrest them will get the law enforcement literally (though thankfully temporarily) disintegrated, so no one likes to test her. Because of all of the above, their resistance is more of a game than anything else at this point in their lives. Billy generally does not hesitate to take advantage of his position (and his grandfather's affection for family) to rebel against the king's rule.

Billy is pretty damned righteous, despite being raised by a madwoman and growing up in the cutthroat Magnus family full of bickering and political drama. When Wanda opts to help their uncle Pietro rule Genosha despite his murder (attempted, anyway) of their father, instead of cooperating with their mother, he and his twin run off to help the humans and their grandfather take the government back. He is capable of taking things seriously, but it takes more than an everyday run-in with a goon squad to get him out of his cheeky "take this, bad guy!" attitude towards heroics.

He's the more serious of the twins, but he's also very easily riled up into causing trouble with Tommy when the other suggests it. He's less inclined to laugh at gallows-humour and is less affectionate towards Magneto than Tommy, opting for formality at times. He's also a bit more in denial about his relation to the man subjugating humans- he expresses discomfort when Tommy calls them the "royal grandsons". He'll take advantage of the position but isn't happy about the title.

Despite all of the above, he does love his family. He'll support whatever messy shenanigans Tommy wants to get into. He loves and respects his mother, though he is also terrified of her and her powers, especially when she's mad. And he even loves his grandfather despite fully believing that his politics are awful and abusive. (a bit like a liberal with loving but grossly conservative parents. love them! but why you gotta vote like that, fam?) For all his affectionate, loyal personality, that doesn't mean he won't happily sass anyone who gets in his way. Friends, family, royal guards, enemies actively trying to kill him. None are safe from the attitude. It gets him into trouble sometimes, actually.

A few key differences between AU Billy and 616-Billy worth noting:

-This Billy does not suffer from the crippling depression, lucky him.

-Billy Magnus shares the same potential for power but lacks the training and control, so he's not capable of doing much more than Young Avengers volume 1 Billy.

-Still gay, but not romantically involved with anyone.

-The only family he knows is the Magnus family

-He's the original baby Wanda gave birth to, thus was never reborn to human parents, meaning it's entirely possible that his soul came from a fragment of a demon and he has links to Mephisto. Yay?

Items: His costume + his phone

Powers/skills: Billy essentially has reality shifting godmode powers, meaning he can use his words and magic to do almost anything given enough time, focus, and energy. The bigger the spell, the harder it is to cast. He shares the same powers as the Scarlet Witch, but he's nowhere as skilled or in control as she is, meaning it's really hit and miss whether anything will work. This is also a good excuse for when he's trying to do something ICly and word of mod says it's not allowed- he just won't be able to do it. (This also applies to changes to other characters when permission from the player isn't granted.)

A general list of things he's capable of in canon:
-flying/teleportation
-energy projections/attacks (blue fire or lightning, usually)
-altering someone's appearance (he made four sirens' mouths disappear)
-undoing someone else's magic or chemical change (eg. reversal of siren magic and the nullification of Magneto's powers)
-healing (slow and clumsy, but he can mend injuries)

Full list of known powers and clarifications are here. The wiki is for his 616 counterpart, but they share a powerset.

SAMPLE

Shikki told me she used this thread for her sample, so I’ll be using it as well! I’d be using the 2nd journal in the thread if accepted, though.
